Guangzhou University Students Show Solidarity with People Worldwide in Fight against COVID-19

Since the novel coronavirus outbreak, Guangzhou University students living at home and abroad have paid close attention to the global fight and give support for international friends.

Lu Yu, a second-year graduate student from the School of Geographical Sciences of Guangzhou University, wrote a piece of letter expressing solidarity with Italian friends which grabs the headlines of many local Italian media including the CO.ME.GAS and Radio C1 inBlu. The letter reviewed the author's experience of studying and living in Camerino, Italy, and his concern for Italian friends. Chinese government’s successful experience in fighting the epidemic inspired the people of Camerino and Italy. The page view hit thousands of times by far.

Many international students of Guangzhou University shared their experiences about China’s response in fight against the epidemic on social media. Zahid Hassan, an international student of the School of Civil Engineering, stayed on campus during the Spring Festival when the epidemic broke. His article entitled Let’s Isolate the Virus, Not the Chinese was published on Coupon World, a public account that provides living services for foreign friends in China. The article describes how Chinese government has curbed the spread of the epidemic as quickly as possible since the outbreak, and provide video links in praise of the medical staff who fought in the front line.

Hafiz ur Rehman, a PhD student of the School of Mathematics and Information Engineering, also prayed for China in WeChat when he was in Pakistan.
