Guangzhou University currently has three national research platforms and 51 provincial research platforms. It has undertaken a number of major research projects for national and regional development. The university has presided over 22 national and major research projects and major projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China. It has also undertaken 551 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 161 projects of National Social Science Foundation of China and 137 projects of Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of Ministry of Education.
The number of articles published on SCIE/SSCI journals has risen from 315 in 2016 to 2014 in 2020. The number of articles published on top journals to include Science and Nature has also increased. Eight faculty have been selected by Elsevier as highly-cited Chinese scholars in 2019, the number of which ranked the third place among universities in Guangdong province. Guangzhou University has received 12 national research achievements awards and 62 provincial research achievements awards from 2016 to 2020.
Guangzhou University has built the “2+6+1” interdisciplinary integrative development platforms.
