Remarks from GZHU Alumni Association

In the past decades, Guangzhou University (GZHU) has cultivated nearly 190,000 graduates of various professionals, who have spread all over home and abroad, and have made an important contribution for the local economic and social development. Guangzhou University is proud of its Alumni and believes that the university will not achieve so much without the contribution from the Alumni. Guangzhou University Alumni Association is specifically found to organize the activities and offer service to the GZHU Alumni at home and abroad. The goal of Alumni Association is: To inherit the fine tradition of Guangzhou University; closely connect alumni and the Alma mater; promote the friendship and cooperation, and encourage the exchange; make a contribution for the development of the Guangzhou University and that of Guangzhou, Guangdong and China as well.

The History of GZHU Alumni Association

Approved by the Guangdong Bureau of Civil Affairs in July 18, 2008, the “Guangzhou University Alumni Association of Guangzhou City”, which was established under the approval by the Guangdong Bureau of Civil Affairs in1982, was altered by “Guangzhou University Alumni Association of Guangdong Province”.

In July 11, 2009, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of Guangzhou University’s Merging, supported strongly by the Alma mater, Guangzhou University Alumni Association held its first Alumni Congress and Founding Conference of Alumni Association. Mr. Ye Xuanping, the former executive vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), former governor of Guangdong province, the first President of former Guangzhou University (adjunct position), wrote down the inscription in his own hand for the Alumni Association.

The first conference discussed and passed the “Constitution of Guangzhou University Alumni Association” (draft), elected and formed the First Alumni Association Council, while 115 persons were elected as the directors of the First Alumni Association Council such as Mr. Kong Xianghong, 91 persons were elected as the executive directors for the First Alumni Association Council such as Mr. Fang Da’er, the president of the University, Prof. Yu Jianshe, was elected as the first chairperson of Guangzhou University Alumni Association, 38 persons were elected as the first vice chairperson of Guangzhou University Alumni Association such as Mr. Wang Dianpo, and Ms. Lin Juan was elected as the first secretary-general of Guangzhou University Alumni Association.
