On March 31, 2025, the University of Liverpool delegation, led by Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Joseph Sweeney, paid an official visit to Guangzhou University. GZHU Vice President Professor Fu Jiyang received the delegation and held meeting with the guests.
Representatives of the two sides emphasized the importance of promoting people-to-people exchange between the two countries and agreed to initiate solid steps to strengthen collaborations between the two universities. Guangzhou University is expected to boost collaborations with its British counterpart in the fields of engineering, material science, life sciences, social science in the forms of joint education programs and joint researches. The University of Liverpool is invited to consider joining the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities.
Before the official meeting, the delegation visited GZHU’s Earthquake Engineering Research Center and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Maritime Silk Road and met and talked with relevant faculty and scholars.
