Professor Fu Jiyang, Vice-President of Guangzhou University(GU), led a delegation to visit three universities in Europe at the invitation of the University of Zaragoza, Polytechnic University of Valencia and Coimbra University.
At the invitation of the Confucius Institute in the University of Zaragoza on the morning of September 8th, delegates visited the Confucius Institute and met with Professor Rafael de Miguel Gonzalez, the foreign Dean of the Confucius Institute in university of zaragoza, and Ji Yaming, Chinese Dean, and discussed with faculty of the Confucius Institute. The two sides talked about the running mode, teaching management, and characteristic development of teachers' team building of Confucius Institute.
The delegation talked with Professor Loris, Vice-President of University of Zaragoza, and other representatives on the afternoon of September 8th. The two sides talked about joint research projects, student exchange, the International Sister-City University Alliance(GISU) and future cooperation and signed the Agreement on Joint Research Projects of GISU in 2023.
The delegation of Guangzhou Municipal Government and GU participated in the joint scientific research report and pre-publication ceremony of GISU in 2022 at the Zaragoza Museum. Elena Barles, Dean of the School of Philosophy and Humanities of the University of Zaragoza, gave a report on the results of the joint scientific research project "Traditional Chinese art in Spain: collection, museum collection, difference and influence". The delegation visited the Innovation-Design-Multicultural Research Institute (IDC) of Valencia University of Technology on the afternoon of September 9th. Dean Pedro led the delegation to visit the IDC studio and laboratory, and had in-depth discussions with the representatives of IDC College on the cooperation and exchanges in "China Classroom", the protection and restoration of historical relics, intangible culture-wide embroidery and creative design in Polytechnic University of Valencia. On the morning of September 10th, the delegation visited the World Heritage Building Restoration Project of Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the two sides discussed on deepening the exchange and cooperation of GISU, developing scientific research cooperation and exchanges among faculty and students.
On the morning of September 11th, the delegation of Guangzhou Municipal Government and GU visited the University of Coimbra, and discussed with representatives of Coimbra Municipal Government, Professor Joao Nuno Calvao da Silva, Vice President of Coimbra University, and responsible persons of relevant departments. The two sides discussed on how to further promote the work of GISU. Representatives of the three parties witnessed the unveiling ceremony of "International Language and Culture Committee of GISU" in China of the University of Coimbra and the Institute of Portuguese-speaking Countries. The delegation also visited UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Building and paid a working visit to Confucius Institute of the University of Coimbra.
This visit has promoted the cooperation between GU and well-known European universities, further promoted the development of GISU, and laid a solid foundation for GU to further open to the world.
