On Sept. 2nd, the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security and the Ministry of Education jointly granted an award to commend national advanced collectives, model teachers and the advanced workers in education system. Zhang Jichao, a professor from the School of Civil Engineering and vice chairman of Guangzhou University Committee of Jiu San Society won the title of “National Model Teacher in 2014”.
Prof. Zhang is one of the three university teachers who won this title, which is also awarded to more than 40 teachers form Guangdong Province. He has led and participated in nearly 100 scientific research and technological application projects and key projects of different levels during the period from 6th to 11th five-year plan and is selected by the municipal “121 Talents Program”. He has won 24 awards in scientific research, including one national patent of utility model and 11 provincial and ministerial awards. One of his projects was granted the first prize of scientific progress of 2013 by the Ministry of Education.
