Guangzhou University, June 4, 2014:The Confucius Institute of Wesleyan College celebrated the Dragon-boat Festival in Auroherd Park on June 1st.
It is known that as a commendable attempt of the Institute to walk out of the campus and enter the community, this activity aimed at spreading the Chinese culture by introducing Chinese festival customs through traditional games, festival-themed souvenirs and the rest.
Community residents who loved Chinese culture listened on the boats on the lake to the introduction of the festival given by the teachers from the Institute. The impressive story of the patriotic poet Qu Yuan and the description of the exciting dragon-boat race attracted the participants of the activity and aroused their interest in Chinese culture. The special food Zongzi , the handmade Dragon-Boat-Festival-themed fans and the carnival of Chinese traditional games became the highlight of the activity, which innovatively improved the community residents’ understanding of Chinese culture in a relaxing and harmonious atmosphere.
