Guangzhou University, June 26, 2012: The Commencement Ceremony of Class 2012 is held in the gymnasium. The morning session and afternoon session respectively witness the important moment of 4698 BA students and 757 MA students whose joy is shared by the university’s leaders and deans of every school in the traditional supervisor costume to grand graduation certificates to every graduate.
Mr. Yi Zuoyong, Secretary General of CPC in GU, unveils the ceremony by announcing the name-list of 2012 Excellent BA Graduates and MA Graduates who are then granted certificates by GU leaders. The volunteer students who contribute to the Westerner region, the mountain areas and backward areas are also granted certificates and awards.
Chaired by Ms. Chen Shuang, Vice President of GU, the ceremony officially starts with the solemn national anthem. President Yu Jiangshe addressed the audience to congratulate the graduates and express gratitude to the faculty, as well as graduates’ parents and people of all walks of life who always care about and support GU. President Yu continues to say, “Campus life is the most previous chapter in one’s life. We have been sharing the moment of the past several years, cheering not only for the students’ growth but also for GU’s development. Because of the brilliant graduates like you, GU is sure to blossom and become a ‘top university in China with great renown in the world’. I, together with GU, am proud of you and wish you all the best upon graduation.”
President Yu shares his hopes with all the faculty and graduates. Firstly, he hopes that graduates will keep their passion for work and for study in the new chapter of their life, and never forget the modest and curious attitude towards truth and facts. Secondly, he hopes that graduates will be responsible and diligent in their work and achieve their value by contributing to the country. Thirdly, he hopes that graduates will find out their own way of growth and never be afraid of difficulties. He concludes by saying “No matter how far away you are from us, we are always there for you!”
Professor Ha Yinfei, Vice Dean of School of Humanities, addresses the audience on behalf of the faculty. She wishes the graduates the best of luck in their life and reminds them of the good qualities they need to keep upon graduation, such as self-reliance, hard work, integrity and so on.
Peng Xinyuan extends his deepest gratitude to GU on behalf of the graduates, and wishes GU every success. And finally over 5000 graduates walk on the stage to receive certificate and take photos together.
