Guangzhou University, Feb. 25, 2012:The 20th Anniversary of Cooperation between Hong Kong Professional and Educational Service Ltd. (HKPES) and School of Architecture and Urban Planning was held here in GU.
Around 200 people attended the meeting, including twelve experts from HKPES, such as He Shouqian, Huang Jiawu and Huang Naiguang, and Yu Qicai, Vice President of GU. The meeting is chaired by Wang Qiong, Party Secretary of School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Important speeches are made at the meeting by Gong Zhaoxian, the Dean of the school, He Shouqian, representative from HKPES, and He Zhiguo, graduate from the school.
Gong Zhaoxian recalled that the partnership was established in 1991 between HKPES and GU which was then the Construction Department of South China Construction School. Since then, many architects and urban planners in Hong Kong give up their holidays to teach the students in our school free of charge. What’s more, they offer design tutorials, construction salons and academic seminars to our students, and organize some of them to have internship in Hong Kong. As it is, their kind help in the past twenty years makes great contribution to the rapid development of our school.
Yu Qicai continued to pay tribute to the devotion of HKPES to GU, praising the experts in Hong Kong for their continuous and unconditional help. He said, “We can’t thank them enough as they always share the latest construction theories and design concepts to us. We hope that HKPES will continues, as it always does, to support us, to support the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, so we can have more sustainable and fruitful cooperation. We also hope that the school and other relevant administration departments can provide condition for further exchanges with HKPES.”
Yu Qicai also presented the “Outstanding Contribution Awards at the 20th Anniversary” to fifteen experts from Hong Kong, including He Shouqian. After that, Yu presented souvenirs and Flags of Honor to HKPES to show GU’s gratitude.
A construction salon was held after the meeting at night, during which Hong Kong experts conducted academic exchanges with the students and faculties at School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
