Since the start of the new term, Professor Jiang Xiaoping, Director of Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College (CIWC), together with other staff delegates, visited Confucius Institute (CI) of Savannah State University (SSU) and Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) consecutively, to exchange teaching experience and explore cooperation opportunity with their counterparts.
As one of the oldest public universities, SSU initiated the CI program with Jiujiang University in October in 2014. Being one of the youngest and outstanding CIs worldwide, CI at AUM, set up in November in 2012, had developed its peculiar style in Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion.
Director Jiang and other delegates attended Seminar on Chinese Language Teaching in CI at AUM
At SSU, Peggy Blood, on behalf of CI, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. In the following session, Luo Qijuan, the Chinese director, presented a detailed report on the latest development of CI in SSU, and then the two parties discussed issues on Chinese language teaching, organization of Chinese cultural activities and CI development. At length, a consensus was reached on Chinese cultural event collaboration.
During the stay at AUM, our delegation, accompanied by two directors, Eric Yang and Associate Professor Hu Lei, participated in a seminar on Chinese Language Teaching, which concentrated on teaching activities through real cases and solutions to class management. In the following forum, Eric Yang shared their insights in media cooperation and cultural promotion. The two sides reached preliminary intentions in future cooperation and mutual visits.
These two visitations strengthened ties between CIWC with surrounding sister CIs and propelled CI counterparts to learn from each other. CIWC plans to carry on this activity in the late May and the destination is expected to be CI at University of West Florida.
