On the morning of January 25th, Professor Scott Bowman, Vice Chancellor of Charles Darwin University, led a delegation to visit Guangzhou University(GZHU). Professor Zhou Yun, Vice-president of GZHU and responsible persons of the International Office and School of International Education discussed with the delegates.
Vice-president Zhou welcomed the guests and introduced history of GZHU. He pointed out that the friendship between the two universities originated from the sister-city relationship between Guangzhou and Darwin. Since the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the two universities in 2020, the two sides have promoted cooperation with each other. Charles Darwin University joined the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities(GISU) in 2021. GZHU is committed to developing exchanges and cooperation with universities in other countries, including Charles Darwin University. It is hoped that cooperation between the two universities and the two cities could be deepened.
Professor Bowman thanked GZHU for its warm reception and introduced the history of Darwin City and Charles Darwin University. He pointed out that as a university located in a city with a high proportion of Chinese residents in Australia, Charles Darwin University attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Chinese universities. The two universities have developed an all-round cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint scientific research and talents cultivation. Charles Darwin University is looking forward to further exchanges and cooperation with GZHU.
Representatives of the two sides also had in-depth exchanges on promoting faculty and student exchanges, carrying out cooperative scientific research and joint program of graduate students in civil engineering, earthquake resistance and vibration reduction, environmental science and engineering, new energy materials, and promoting the development of GISU.
Charles Darwin University is located in Darwin, the capital of northern Australia, ranking 501-600 in Times Higher Education World University and 701-750 in QS World University in 2022 respectively. It has around 20,000 students including about 2,000 international students from 69 countries and regions around the world.
