[06-08] Delegation of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology Visit GZHU

On the afternoon of May 30th, delegation led by LIOW TIONG LAI, President of Malaysian Chinese Association, Member of the House of Commons and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, and LEE SZE WEI led a delegation to visit Guangzhou University(GZHU). Wei Minghai, Chairman of the University Council and President of GZHU, and Vice-president Fu Jiyang met the guests at the university town campus. Responsible persons of International Affairs Office, Scientific Research & Development Office , School of International Education, School of Management, Guangzhou International Sister City University Alliance Secretariat and other relevant departments attended the meeting.

On behalf of the university, President Wei welcomed the delegates and thanked President LIOW TIONG LAI and the Malaysian Chinese Association for their long-term efforts to promote the friendship between Malaysia and China as well as the two universities. He pointed out that GZHU has attached importance to exchanges with universities around the world to include Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology. Cooperation between the two universities will be promoted on the basis of mutual learning and complementary advantages. President Wei proposed to promote collaboration in artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation and new energy. He also invited Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology to join in the International Sister City University Alliance Secretariat and carry out multilateral educational exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the Alliance. Exchange visits between faculty and students of the two universities was encouraged.

LIOW TIONG LAI said that he was happy to visit the Huangpu Campus and the University Town Campus. He pointed out that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, and next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. As a staunch supporter of China's "Belt and Road" Initiative, Malaysia looks forward to further deepening its strategic partnership with China. He believed that there is great potential for the two universities to further promote cooperation in digital economy and artificial intelligence. Malaysian Chinese Association will continue to work hard to promote Malaysia-China friendship and support Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology to carry out scientific and academic cooperation with GZHU.

President LEE SZE WEI introduced the historical evolution and development of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, as well as its advantageous disciplines and professional fields. He expressed the willingness to carry out cooperation and exchanges between faculty and students with GZHU in artificial intelligence, information technology, architecture and urban planning, and accounting.

Delegates visited Huangpu Campus and discussed with representatives of the School of Cyberspace Security and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.
