Guangzhou University, June 8th, 2014:The National Conference on the Subject Construction of Geography in Normal Universities and the 17th Workshop on the Teaching of Introduction to Geosciences were closed in Guangzhou University on June 8th. Yu Xinwei, Vice President of GU attended the closing ceremony. Prof. Fan Junhui from the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering and Prof. Liu Nanwei from South China Normal University gave special reports on the ceremony. More than 400 students and teachers from over 40 universities and research institutions including our university attended the workshop.
It’s learned that the workshop is held every two or three years to deepen understanding of the subject construction of geography and to discuss the problems in the teaching of Introduction to Geosciences. The workshop of this year focuses on the future development of geography discipline in normal universities, cosmic environment and sustainable development of the earth, fundamental astronomy teaching and quality education in the 21st century, curriculum reform on Introduction to Geosciences, astronomical observation achievements and methods and inter-disciplinary education related to geography and astronomy.
