The Padova Confucius Institute recently launched a series of cultural activities entitled “Oriental Elegance” in E. De Amicis High School in Rovigo, Italy, which attracted large numbers of student and faculty participants.

The song “Rosy Clouds Chasing the Moon”, played on the guzheng (an ancient Chinese instrument in the zither family), kicked off the event. Other performances included a Chinese song by Li Difei, a teacher of Padova Confucius Institute, a solor dance by Volunteer Zhuang Mei, which ignited a passionate audience response. Other performances included a tea ceremony, traditional costume show, chorus, paper-cut, Chinese knot, and Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, readings of Confucian masterpieces, and Tai Ji, all of which intrigued audiences. Italian students and faculty interacted with the performers throughout the event.
This event was highly commended by students and faculty in E. De Amicis. It served to propel Chinese teaching and cultural exchange in Rovigo as many attending students expressed their wishes to learn Chinese in order to visit China one day to enhance their learning of Chinese culture.
