CIWC Gives Grand Finale in Alumni Association High-end Forum

On May 21, at the invitation of High-end Forum of Confucius Institute of Wesleyan College (CIWC) Alumni Association, Professor Jiang Xiaoping, Dean of CIWC, gave a lecture about Chinese culture in Capital City Country Club, Atlanta, Georgia.

As the grand finale of High-end Forum of CIWC Alumni Association, this lecture attracted alumni from all walks of life including former and current Directors of CIWC Board as well as some young female elites. During the lecture, starting with Chinese language teaching and cultural mission of CIWC, Professor Jiang Xiaoping introduced the experience CIWC had in enhancing exchange among students, educators and educational institutions since its inception. She mainly discussed the efforts CIWC has paid in carrying forward the spirit of CIWC and Chinese Female Higher Education. Professor Jiang also explained CIWC's teaching performances, cultural and community activities in recent three years in comparison of Chinese and American cultures. The vivid description with rich data and colorful photos and videos was highly acclaimed by the audiences. Many alumni expressed their willingness of participating in the summer camp entitled "China Tour" organized by CIWC. Ruth Knox, President of CIWC sang high praise of the lecture and the achievements CIWC has made. CIWC papers and journals also reported this lecture.

Paula Wang, the person in charge of foreign affairs of CIWC, addressed after the lecture. She stressed that CIWC should attach great importance on foreign exchange and fully utilize the active role the Alumni plays in providing Chinese females the access to quality higher education. She mentioned that involvement of Chinese females in social activities should also be enhanced. Ms. Cathy Coxey Snow, President of CIWC Alumni, announced the time for celebrating the first group of CIWC students from GZHU who take dual degree in the U.S. becoming CIWC alumni. The attending alumni agreed to come back to the University for this Celebration. After the lecture, representatives of the alumni, Directors of CIWC Board, and Doctor Beverly Mitchell, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Education in Kennesaw State University, wrote letters to Professor Jiang, in token of appreciation of what CIWC and Macon Community have done and the wish of deepening exchange with Chinese primary and middle schools as well as joining in the educational delegation of visiting China next year.
