Padova Confucius Institute offers a Lecture on Chinese Traditional Legal Thoughts

The Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, Associate Professor Liu Huichun, who is also Doctor of Law, gave a lecture on Chinese Traditional Legal Principles on March 7th, 2014 in Padova Confucius Institute. Professor Favotto, Dean of the School of Economics and Giorgio Picci and Italian Director of the Confucius Institute were present in the lecture along with law professors, local lawyers and people from all walks of life.

Doctor Liu introduced the origin, development of traditional Chinese legal thoughts and pointed out the essence of it being propriety over the code of law, a combination of propriety and the code of law and moral scrutiny over legal punishment.

The lecture was well received and is poised to be the beginning of a series of lectures on the Chinese legal thoughts. Coming next are the lectures on modern Chinese legal system, especially legal systems on economy and trade.
