Guangzhou University, Oct. 28th, 2013Dr. Bashir Makhoul, vice-president of Birmingham City University and other faculties formally visited our university. Vice-president Xu Junzhong, on behalf of our university, received the guests and carried out a fruitful discussion on issues of academic exchange and mutual cooperation. In the meeting, the participants included related department heads from the International Office, School of Music and Dance, School of Art and Design,School of International Education and School of Sino-Canadian International Education.
Birmingham City University is one of the UK's largest modern and comprehensive universities. Its many research fields such as design as well as media have reached the international advanced level in the world, with its history dated back to 1843 at the earliest. In addition, the university offers a wide range of majors for a capacity of 25,000 students to choose from, and renders education in different dimensions: language school, preparatory courses, undergraduate courses, master courses and doctoral courses. Beyond that, City University has more than 25000 students. On account of the outstanding quality of teaching, City University was rated as excellent by the British QAA, and ranked 39th in the University League Table of The Guardian in 2004 .
In the conference, Mr. Xu and Dr. Bashir Makhoul exchanged the basic profile and went further into discussion on issues of student exchange and communication, faculty training, academic visit and seminar. After the further detailed discussion, both two parties reached a preliminary consensus and paved a solid foundation for the next cooperation step.
