GU Signs Cooperation Agreement at 'New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities' Promotion Symposium

Guangzhou University, Dec. 22, 2011:Ms. Chen Shuang, Vice President of GU, attended the "New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities" Promotion Symposium on December 19th. As the symposium is part of the 14th Chinese Overseas Returnees Festival of Science and Technology in Guangzhou, Ms Chen signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of GU with Mr. Edward Parker, Vice President of University of Birmingham.

Thanks to the agreement, the two universities will conduct cooperation program on postgraduate education, exchange program of visiting scholars, short-term training program for the teaching and management faculties, and program for exchange students.

"New Guangzhou, New Business Opportunities" Promotion Symposium is organized by Guangzhou Government with an aim to attract investment from central enterprises, large-scaled privately-owned enterprises and the TOP 500 enterprises. There are 63 cooperation agreements signed, which are mainly for the strategic emerging industries, R&D programs of science and technology, training and exchange programs of human resources, and finical collaboration of science and technology, with the total investment volume of 21.2 billion yuan. Among all the agreements, 23 are signed on the spot with the total investment volume of 8.3 billion yuan. In addition, 4 higher education institutes in Guangdong including Sun Yat-sen University send their delegates to attend the symposium.
