Guangzhou University, May 31, 2014:2014 Guangzhou Biomathematics International Conference was held in our school from May 24 to 28. Biomathematics experts and scholars from China, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and other countries had a discussion on how to strengthen the coordination and cooperation between the biomathematics research group of Guangzhou University and international biomathematics mainstream researchers. Professor Yu Jianshe, Secretary of the Party Committee of GU, attended the opening ceremony.
It is learned that most of the participants are international leading figures in the field, including Prof. Martin Golubitsky from the Ohio State University, Member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Director of US Biomathematics Science Institute and Prof. James Keener from the University of Utah, a famous mathematician, along with Prof. Glenn Webb from Vanderbilt University, Prof. Odo Diekmann from The University of Utrecht in Netherlands, and professors from other universities.
According to the dean of the School of Mathematics and Information Sciences, the conference would enhance the international influence of our school and promote the international academic communication, from which the biomathematics research group gained valuable experience for organizing academic conference of higher levels in the future. It also facilitated the establishment of the Biomathematics Research Center of GU.
