Our Delegation Led by Xu Junzhong Visits Cooperating Universities in the UK and France for Further Reforms of the Sino-French Program

Recently, a delegation of our university led by Vice Principal Xu Junzhong has visited four of our cooperating universities including Anger University and Nice University in France, Birmingham City University and Birmingham University in the U.K. In-depth discussions have been held on reforms of the Sino-French program, exchange of researchers, joint training of students and other issues; productive results have been achieved.

Anger University and Nice University are the leading figures in tourism education in France and have forged firm friendship with our university since 2002 when the Sino-French School of Tourism was established. During the visit, the two parties carefully negotiated the details of profound reforms of this program based on previous communication and reached agreements on reinforcing foreign language teaching, controlling the number of students and increasing the number of students studying in France, thus laid the foundation of the overall reform of the Sino-French program in 2015.

Birmingham City University and Birmingham University are both located in Birmingham, Guangzhou’s sister city. In recent years, these two universities have already started a series of cooperation with Guangzhou University in the area of urban development studies, the training of young teachers and so on. The delegation made field trips to observe the reform and up-grading program of the downtown led by Birmingham University and their nurturing base for art design talents. Agreements have been reached on co-constructing Guangzhou Research Center of Urban Development, the exchanging and communicating between teacher and students, co-cultivating of doctoral candidates and so forth.
