Chen Qihe’s Solo Retrospective Exhibition Held at Guangdong Museum of Art

The solo exhibition of works by Professor Chen Qihe from the School of Fine Art and Artistic Design of Guangzhou University entitled “The Pursuit of Art---a Retrospect of Chen Qihe’s 40 Years in Art” opens at Guangdong Museum of Art on March 18th. Attendees to the opening ceremony and the exhibition include president of Guangzhou Art Academy Li Ming, two vice- presidents of GU Xu Junzhong and Yu Xinwei as well as vice-chairman of Guangdong Artists Association Wang Yong.

As Professor Chen’s 2nd retrospective exhibition, this event is jointly organized by Guangdong Artists Association, Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangdong Committee of Art and Design Education in University and the School of Fine Art and Artistic Design of GU. The 60 exhibits are created by Professor Chen in the past 40 years, some of which are completed during classroom demonstration.

The experts and scholars in the art circle visiting the exhibition also attended the symposium on Professor Chen’s works and academic achievements which is entitled “the Pursuit of Art--- Chen Qihe’s 40 years in Art”. Professor Li Ming, president of Guangzhou Art Academy, spoke highly of Chen’s works, his ice and snow landscape paintings in particular, saying that they are innovative in focusing on icy instead of snowy scene depicted by most artists, which gives his paintings extraordinary artistic charm as they enrich the subject of the genre and showcase the cool beauty of the magnificent crystal world of North China for the viewers in the warm southern area. With his artistic creation, Professor Chen has made a significant contribution in diversifying southern art world of traditional Chinese painting and expanded southern viewers’ visual experience and aesthetic appreciation.
