Guangzhou University, November 14, 2013:On Nov. 9th, the teachers and students of South China Institute of Software Engineering of GU participated in the 18th ICT Innovative Service Contest in Taiwan, which attracted dozens of higher education institutions in the Asian-Pacific region to compete together. The delegation of our university finally won the second prize in “the Cross Straits Group”.

The contest aims at promoting the communication between colleges and universities in the Asia-Pacific region through international competition, broadening the horizon of the participants, strengthening their qualities as well as improving their capabilities of ICT innovation. 982 elite teams of 98 colleges and universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China had signed up for the contest and competed in tow groups—“the Asia-Pacific group” and “the Cross Straits group”, the latter of which included 7 teams from mainland China. Our team was one of them. Invited by the organizing committee, Zhang Yi, Director of South China Institute of Software Engineering served as English judge of “the Asia-Pacific group”.
In the fierce competition of the final with National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, Sichuan University, Taiwan University, Hong Kong polytechnic university, and Tamkang university of Taiwan and so on, our team defeated the rivals in the three sessions of project presentation, live demonstration and debates and won the second prize in “the Cross Straits group”, ranking the first among the teams from the mainland.
