Recently, the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and the Provincial Department of Education announced the result of the Second Guangdong Teaching Competition of Young College Teacher. Li ping, teacher from the school of Music and Dance, attained the second prize in the Humanities subgroup, and was entitled as the " Innovation Staff”; Chang Chunyan, teacher from the school of Mathematics and Information Science, attained the third prize in the Natural Science subgroup; and our university won the "Outstanding Organization Award."
The College Youth Teacher Competition was held in three venues, South China Normal University, Jinan University and South China Agricultural University respectively, and organized by Provincial Federation of Trade Unions and the Provincial Department of Education. 131 contestants from 107 colleges and universities of Guangdong took part in the competition. This competition, with the idea of “teaching a meaningful lesson”, aimed at strengthening the basic teaching skills and competence of young teachers, giving full play to the exemplary role of this competition and improving the qualification of overall teachers. The competition consisted of three parts, namely, teaching design, classroom teaching and teaching reflection, requiring the players to finish the teaching design covering 20 class periods with the corresponding PPT prior to the competition. On the competition day, contestants were randomly placed to different demonstration assignments and required to draft a reflective paper on the previous teaching.
In recent years, our school attached great importance to the training on teaching skills of young teachers through teaching competitions and other activities, and actively supported youthful staff to participate in provincial and municipal competition, creating various platforms to encourage and enhance their teaching innovation.
