GZHU Delegation Recruits Top Talents in Harvard University and Visits American and Korean Universities

Recently, the 2016 Top Talents Recruitment Fair for High-level Universities in Guangdong Province was held in Harvard University. Guangzhou University (GZHU) delegation led by GZHU Vice-president Xun Junzhong, went to Harvard University to participate in the job fair, and later visitedWesleyan College (WC) in the U.S.,and Ewha Women’s University (EWU) in South Korea.

In order to follow the specific implementation by Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government on further promoting the construction of high-level universities as well as accelerating the building of top talent teams in Universities of Guangdong Province, Guangdong provincial government held the recruitment fair targeting oversea top talents in Harvard University. Representatives from totally 14 provincial or municipal universities, and universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education, took part in the job fair, including Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou University, Shenzhen University, South University of Science Technology and so on.

On the scene of the job fair, GZHU representatives introduced the talents' introduction policy, the current disciplinary construction progress and GZHU’s privileges on talents to oversea talents, representatives of America universities, and peers from Guangdong Province. GZHU leaders and faculty members from other related departments communicated with applicants and answered their questions in detail. GZHU received more than 30 applicants including oversea PhD graduates and professors at the job fair with a total of 17 personal profiles of PhD or postdoctoral graduates from Harvard University, Yale University and Boston University. About 10 persons reached preliminary intents with GZHU.

On May 12 when the job fair ended, GZHU delegation arrived at Wesleyan College at Macon City, Atlanta, and paid a working visit to Wesleyan College. Members of GZHU delegation took part in the faculty meeting of Wesleyan College in which Vice-president Xun Junzhong delivered a speech on behalf of GZHU. He extended gratitude to Wesleyan College for the warm invitation and reception as well as reviewed partnership built in the recent four years between GZHU and Wesleyan College, hoping that the friendship and win-win cooperation between the two sides will be further enhanced and deepened on the basis of the current achievements in exchanges. After the meeting, GZHU delegation also held a colloquium with representatives of students registered in 2014, listened to the report made by faculties of Wesleyan College and attended the graduation ceremony for graduates of 2016 at the invitation of Wesleyan College.

          From May 16 to 17, GZHU delegation paid a visit to EWU at the city center of Seoul, South Korea, a comprehensive women’s university ranking top in South Korea and a top research-oriented university in Asia with a long history. During the meeting, Xun Junzhong expressed his willingness to develop academic exchanges, student exchanges and scientific research cooperation with EWU and mainly introduced running conditions of CIWC. Director of International Office of EWU responded positively to Xu’s proposal and put forward specific suggestions on the cooperative issues between GZHU and EWU.
