GZHU President Zou Cairong led a delegation of 6 representatives to visit University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology, Yarmuk University of Applied Science and Technology, Linkoping University and University of Padova, in hope to strengthen ties with European universities.
President Zou signed agreement with Tampere University of Technology

Tampere City and Linkoping City are both sister cities of Guangzhou City. During the visit in Tampere, GZHU delegates held meetings with directors of Tampere Education Bureau and Foreign Affair Office as well as leaders of Yarmuk University of Applied Science and Technology and Tampere College of Education. MoU was signed between GZHU and Yarmuk University of Applied Science and Technology.
Mr. Becca, Director of the Tampere Education Bureau congratulated on the approval of the Finland National Fund -“Exploitation of Environmental Education Curriculum”, jointly applied by Yarmuk University of Applied Science and Technology and School of Environmental Science and Engineering of GZHU. He had discussions and reached a consensus with GZHU delegates on deepening the collaboration among universities in Tampere with GZHU. GZHU delegates also discussed with representatives of the departments of University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology, two world-renowned universities. Agreements between GZHU and these two universities on joint cultivation of students were renewed.
President Zou Signed Comprehensive MoU with Linkoping University

Linkoping University signed Memorandum of Understanding with GZHU in November, 2014 to set up the GZHU- LiU Sustainable Urban Development Research Center. During this visit, the two universities signed a comprehensive MoU. GZHU delegates attended the academic lectures series and forum of the 40thanniversary of Linkoping University. In addition, they met President, Vice President, related administrators and researchers of Linkoping University, to have an in-depth discussion on the work of constructing the Sustainable Urban Development Research Center and the arrangement of the joint academic forum. In the meantime, Ms. Helena, Mayor of Linkoping City received the guests and expressed her full support for cooperation between GZHU and Linkoping University. She hoped that the municipal government and the municipal companies could also participate in cooperation.
As a prestigious university with a long history, the University of Padova has established a good relationship with GZHU. In mid-October this year, the two universities signed agreement on joint-supervision of PhD students. The visit this time further raised the partnership to a new level. In the course of the visit, leaders and representatives with the competent departments convened a meeting, in which the two sides exchanged views on setting up the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Both sides agreed to promote collaboration and exchanges in every possible field, especially in scientific research and to set up the joint research center. Professor Rizzuto, President of the University of Padova, highly commended the performances our joint Confucius Institute has achieved and the ties between the two universities. He pledged to give further support for the development of Confucius Institute.
Mr. Massimo, Mayor of Padova City, arranged a meeting with President Zou Cairong. He expressed the hope to strengthen exchange and cooperation between Guangzhou City and Padova City and Veneto through collaboration between the two universities. GZHU delegates also paid a visit to FIP-the famous Italian company in structural engineering, and held a meeting with its president to learn about its achievements in new technology application and laboratory studies.
It should be noted that FIP took part in setting up the International Joint Research Laboratories in Risk Prevention and Control (Joint-Labs) in GZHU Earthquake Engineering Research and Test Center.
