Vice president Xu Junzhong visited Padua University and Coimbra University to strengthen cooperation with the two European universities.
With the platform of the Confucius Institute in Padua University, Guangzhou University has formed a strong academic partnership with Padua University. During President Xu’s visit, the two universities reached consensus on enhancing exchanges of teachers and students, joint Ph.D programs (dual diplomas), improvement of the cultural programs of the Confucius Institute and joint research projects on sinology.
Coimbra University is the first Portuguese university that a delegation of Guangzhou University ever paid visit to. Both parties identified the intentions on cooperation on exchanges of teachers and students, the undergraduates "2 + 2" project, the exchange of visiting scholars, and scientific research cooperation. Guangzhou and Coimbra have established friendly cooperation and trade relations as the city of Coimbra is situated at a very important location in the “Maritime Silk Road”. With its long history and academic achievements, Coimbra University will be a very good position to promoting the exchanges between the big cities.
During the visit, vice president Xu Junzhong presented collections of Guangzhou Ceremony as gifts to Padua University and Coimbra University. He expressed hopes that the foreign scholars could carry out the research on China, especially on Guangzhou. The three universities also confirmed details on Silk Road International Academic Conference.
