Five students from theSchool of Life Scienceparticipated in the 4th "Huawen Cup" National Teaching Skills Competition held in Luoyang recently. Three of them won the grand prize and 2 won the first prize in the teaching skills competition; all of them won the grand prize in the teaching design competition.

Host by the Microteaching Committee of Chinese Educational Technology Association, this competition is the most influential and biggest one on biology teaching skills for teaching majors at normal universities. It consists of four stages, namely teaching design, presentation of teaching designs, simulative teaching and on-site defense. Nearly 250 participants from 54 normal universities have participated in the competition this year.
It is reported that the School of Life Science attaches great importance to the training of the students' teaching skills and encourages them to take part in various teaching competitions. Specific training objectives and requirements are also set according to the levels of the students in different periods. As a result, their students frequently win awards in national and provincial competitions in recent years.
