Guangzhou University, 18th.May, 2014:The 16th National Fashion Awards was held in the Douglas Theatre of Macon City. About one hundred audience from more than ten countries and regions came to enjoy this show. The Confucius Institute of Wesleyan College was invited to stage the opening performance for the party.
Ms. Han Dong, a teacher of the Institute, presented a solo performance, “Love Song of Kangding”, which fully demonstrated the beauty of Chinese music. Ms. Jiang Xiaoping, dean of Confucius Institute, in collaboration with her staff Ms. Tan Suyan, recited the poem “Bidding farewell to Cambridge Again” in both Chinese and English, leaving the audience in deep melancholy. The play “Reunion” vividly staged a playback of the moving reunion scene of the Song sisters in Wesleyan College about one-hundred years ago, which sought to commemorate the profound historical ties between China and Wesleyan College, and the significance of Confucius institute.
It is the first time that the Institute co-organized this local grand cultural activity and the faculty members jointly gave performance to the public. The vice president of the Wesleyan College, Ms. Vivian L. Fowle, was deeply impressed by “Reunion” and suggested that this opera be reserved for the following cultural activities, especially for the Global Confucius Institute Day in the coming September.
