On November 14, the annual South Georgia State International Cultural Festival kicked off.Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College gave a climax show in celebration of the festival, which was highly commended by Chairman of Organizing Committee of the Cultural Festival and the citizens.

South Georgia State International Cultural Festival was founded ten years ago. This year it attracted cultural delegations from the U.S., China, England, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand and Ghana as well as large amount of participants. Except for setting up booths displaying different cultures, the organizer also invited several prestigious cultural delegations to perform on the stage.
Samba, Panama Dance and Street Dance demonstrated the most typical cultural features of different countries. The International Cultural Festival came to a close with Chinese folk music and Chinese dance performed by Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College. Dances of Chinese minority ethnic groups including Dai, Mongolia and the folk song ignited the audiences’ passions. Immersed in the charm of Eastern culture, the audiences gathered around the stage clapping hands following the beats.
Mr. Bauer, Chairman of Organizing Committee of the Cultural Festival, said that it was the first time a Chinese cultural group is invited to give performance since the inception of this festival. As the biggest highlight, the show given by Confucius Institute of Wesleyan College attracted the largest numbers of audiences and gained high reputation. Administrator of Confucius Institute at Wesleyan College pointed out that in the past, Confucius Institute was committed to promote Chinese culture in Middle Georgia State. The huge success of the first show in South Georgia State reflected the increasing cultural influence of the Confucius Institute.
