GU Students Win Outstanding Awards in the 2013 National English Contest for College Students

Guangzhou University, May 13, 2013:The 2013 National English Contest for College Students was held at Guangdong Business College on May 12, and five student contestants from Guangzhou University won great results. They are Liu Ruiqi from School of Foreign Studies, He Jingyi from School of Economy and Statistics, Jiang Youyin from School of Humanities, Liu Ruoshui from School of Economy and Statistics, and Jiang Qiwen from School of Geographical Sciences.

Because of their excellent performance, Guangzhou University shares the honor as the university winning the most awards of their students. What’s more, it is the first time for the student of GU to get the First Prize Award in Group B in this contest thus the winner’s name Liu Ruiqi should be remembered.

For the record, The National English Contest for College Students is the only authoritative English contest in China to acknowledge students’ integrated skills. To encourage and assess students of different levels to showcase their English skills, four groups are identified: Group A is for graduate students; Group B is for undergraduate students majoring in English; Group C is for undergraduate students not majoring in English; and Group D is for students majoring in sports and art as well as students at vocational school.

Guangzhou University encourages students to join this contest by allocating the Department of Teaching Affairs and the Foreign Language Training Center to organize a selection contest. As many as 1095 students sign up for the selection contest.
