From 14th to 15th September, the delegation of the Tarbiat Modares University of Iran visited Guangzhou University, during which the 1st GZU-TMU workshop on environment and civil engineering was held. Representatives from both institutions delivered speeches respectively on research fields including Water Treatment, Road Engineering, Earthquake Engineering and Construction Materials. The workshop achieved a full success of which substantively propelled educational cooperation and scientific exchange between GZU and TMU.
TMU’s delegation which consisted of both faculty and research students was headed by Dr. Hossein Ganjidoust, a Full TMU Professor and the Science Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China. In the course of visit, the TMU delegation had in-depth discussions and exchanges in mutually interested areas with their Chinese counterparts. The Iranian guests also visited GZU’s Earthquake Engineering Research and Test Center, Guangzhou University-Tamkang University Joint Research Center for Engineering Structure Disaster Prevention and Control, as well as other relevant laboratories which included the Municipal Engineering Lab and the Bridge and Traffic Engineering Lab.
The TMU delegates, upon concluding on the visit, commented affirmatively on the scientific research environment and well equipped facilities in GZU’s labs while in the meantime also conveyed heartfelt willingness to carry out collaborations in scientific projects and student exchange programs.
