Vice President Fu Jiyang Leads Delegation to the University of Manchester to Deepen International Collaboration in Science and Technology

Vice President Ji Fuyang visited the University of Manchester, along with the staff of Science and Technology Department of and the Director of GU-TKU Joint Research Center in Engineering Structural Disaster and Control, to explore opportunities of collaborative research on science and technology between the two universities.

During his visit to the University of Manchester, Vice President Fu Jiyang was given a tour in the laboratories of School of Mechanics, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, accompanied by Professor Ji Tianjian from School of Mechanics, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. To give the full play of the research platform of the International Cooperation Base of “Structural Wind-Resistance and Structural Safety in Engineering” in GZU, the two sides agreed to deepen the collaboration in joint research as well as academic exchanges in the fields of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering (including Wind Engineering and Earthquake Engineering), Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics and Environmental Engineering. The two sides also discussed details on student and faculty exchange programs, the joint postgraduate programs, scientific research cooperation and other issues.

Ranking among the world’s top thirty universities, it enjoys a high reputation in the UK and the world. In recent years, with the International Cooperation Base of “Structural Wind-Resistance and Structural Safety in Engineering” in GZU, the University of Manchester and GZU have carried out joint research programs, faculty and student exchange programs in relevant areas.

During his trip to the UK, Vice President Fu Jiyang and his delegation visited Imperial College London and Edinburg University for further international cooperation.
