Our University Sought International Seismic Research Collaboration with Tohoku University

On March 16, our Seismic Engineering Research Center signed an agreement withOptimum Disaster-Mitigation Technology Division ofInternational Disaster Science Institute inTohokuUniversity, to strengthen the bilateral collaboration on seismic research. Meanwhile, lifelong professor Inoue Fan Fu consented happily to the invitation as our guest professor. Professor Ikago fromTohokuUniversity, professor Kobayashi fromAkitaUniversity, academicianZhou Fulin, and other related personnel and researchers presented this ceremony.

University, founded in 1907, isJapan's third largest national university, and listed in the world's top 100 universities currently. During the rehabilitation period after the 2011 earthquake, Tohoku established the International Disaster Science Institute and harvested numerous practical research achievements. Professor Inoue, being an internationally renowned expert in the field of seismic research, took up positions of chairman for Japan Seismic-Isolated Structures Review Board and vice director forJapan Seismic-Isolated Structures Evaluation Committee, apart from his routine teaching and research work in Tohoku University,.

EngineeringSeismicResearchCenter of Guangzhou University, led byacademicianZhou Fulin, committed to Seismic-Isolated Structure research for more than 20 years, has becomeChina's most distinctive research center in this field, and won high academic recognition in the world. This research collaboration will be give full play to bilateral research resources.

It should also be noted that the two sides propose to expand the cooperation with Berkeley, University of Illinois on laboratory work and found an international research and experiment platform assisted by Internet and data technology.
