On 16th November, Professor Mohammad Ahmadi, President of Tarbiat Modares University (TMU), and Professor Hossein Ganjidoust,Sicence Counselor of Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited Guangzhou university and were received by President Zou Cairong and Vice President Xu Junzhong.
President Ahmadi briefly introduced TMU and its strengths. On the basis of the exchange carried out previously among faculty and students of TMU and GU in the fields of civil engineering and environmental engineering, he expressed the willingness of raise the cooperation at the university level in joint scientific research and joint graduate programs.
Professor Zou extended a sincere welcome to President Ahmadi and Professor Ganjidoust. He enumerated GU’s achievement in scientific research, discipline construction, talents cultivation, faculty training and international cooperation. He highlighted the effort of GU in constructing high-level universities as well as our collaboration with Iranian universities. He also indicated that GU explored cooperation in every possible field with Iranian universities under the support of Iranian government.
Professor Ganjidoust passed on Iranian government’s support on setting up the joint Confucius Institute of GU and University of Mazandaran. Emphasizing on the long history of Sino-Iranian partnership, he hoped that mutual ties in scientific research, technological innovation and talents cultivation could be strengthened with closer cooperation among key universities in the two countries.
The two sides also had an in-depth talk on issues including agreements at the university level, joint organization of international seminars, faculty exchanges, and the joint graduate programs. Directors of related functional divisions and departments in GU also attended the meeting.
