Development Of The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

Guangzhou University integrates its development into the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Guangzhou as a national central city. The university has achieved remarkable progress in solving major scientific and technological problems and serving economic and social development. Important research platforms have been established, including the Earthquake Engineering Research and Test Center; the Institute of Advanced Engineering Science of Intelligent Manufacturing, the Institute of Advanced Technology of Cyberspace, and the Greater Bay Area Institute of Environment.

Guangzhou University has made significant contributions to Local economic and social development in the fields of shock absorption and earthquake resistance, environmental governance, cultural relics protection, and decision-making consulting services. A series of research achievements have found practice applications to include the construction of the Canton Tower and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The team led by Zhou Fulin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, completed the shock absorption isolation design of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge which is the world's longest sea-crossing bridge. The team's anti-seismic technology achieved 11 China first awards and placed China as the world's leader in anti-seismic technology.
