Basic Information
The Guangzhou Institute of International Finance has been recognized as a key project in the financial sector since the “12th Five-Year” Plan period in Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City. Based on the building of a modern financial service system of Guangzhou, the Institute seeks to build a high-caliber think tank with international view and worldwide influence, and provide support for the development of the financial discipline of Guangzhou University.
The Dean of the Institute is Wang Jianye, who is a National Expert, Rotating Secretary General of International Working Group on Export Credits, a former Economic Counselor and Chief Economist of the Export-Import Bank of China and Managing Director of the Silk Road Fund. Guest Professors are Xu Xiaohong, Cheng Yisun, Guo Weiqing and Ma Jun.
Research areas include economics and finance which encompass international economics and finance, financial reform and opening of China, world economy and global governance; research and analysis of financial markets, industries, and risks, include financial statistics, financial engineering, financial technology, financial systems, green finance, industrial finance; research which focuses on South China, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Institute has been attracting talents, mobilizing resources, and strengthening management. Its research work has begun to be realized and its ability to advise on the reform in relevant areas has been further enhanced.
Organizational Structure
The Institute has established a decision-making committee consisting of the dean, professor representatives, and assistant to the dean. In addition, it has established the decision-making mechanism for the Assembly of Fellows, General Management Office, Editorial Office of Academic Journal, Financial Statistics Division, Financial Engineering Division, and Industrial Finance Division.
