The school has conferred degrees to more than 1,200 undergraduates and 120 postgraduates and there are 515 undergraduates and 180 postgraduates. The school possesses a faculty team of 99 members to include 20 professors and 33 associate professors.

The school hosts three provincial and ministerial scientific research and teaching platforms to include the Key Laboratory for Water Quality and Conservation of Pearl River Delta of Ministry of Education, Guangdong Key Laboratory of Radionuclide Control and Resource Utilization, and Guangdong Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. The school laboratories cover an area of 5000 square meters. The school has high-precision plasma mass spectrometer, ion chromatograph, ultra-low background liquid scintillator and other large-scale scientific research instruments in the value of 100 million yuan.

The school has a Master program for Environmental Science and Engineering and Master degree program for Environmental Engineering. The first-level discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering is a key discipline in Guangdong province, and a key disciplinary group of "Regional Water Environment Security and Water Ecological Protection" conducted by “Guangdong High-level University Building”. The program of Environmental Engineering is the first of its kind in Guangdong Province to pass the International Certification of Engineering Education. The first-level discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering ranked 41st place among Chinese universities in 2019 according to ShanghaiRanking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities.
