President Weng Jian of Guangzhou University (GZHU) met with a delegation from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) led by Rector José Esteban Capilla Romá on May 28 at the university's University Town campus. The two leaders renewed the institutional cooperation agreement and the student exchange agreement between the two institutions.
During the meeting, Weng reviewed the achievements of bilateral collaboration since 2022 in such areas as materials analysis, engineering education and design innovation. He proposed expanding future cooperation through the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-city Universities (GISU) and deepening high-level talent exchanges between the two universities.
Capilla expressed strong interest in advancing joint research and joint talent cultivation in key disciplines including civil engineering, architecture, life sciences and materials science. He also proposed the establishment of a joint laboratory and voiced hope for more support for Spanish students seeking internship and exchange opportunities in China.
The two sides also exchanged views on co-hosting international academic conferences and developing joint education programs.
The renewed agreements further cement the long-standing friendly and cooperative ties between GZHU and UPV, injecting fresh momentum into their practical collaboration across multiple fields. Going forward, GZHU will continue to deepen exchanges with world-class universities, enrich the substance of its international education, and push forward its high-quality development as a leading innovative higher education institution in China.
