Guangzhou University (GU) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a cooperation agreement on the joint scientific research seed money via the cloud on the afternoon of April 8. The agreement is aimed to boost the construction of HKUST (Guangzhou) and promote interdisciplinary cooperation between the two universities. Professor Zhang Qixue, Vice-President of GU, and Professor Nancy Ip, Vice-President of HKUST, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective universities. Professor Guo Xingpeng, Vice-President of GU, Professor Lionel M. Ni, Provost of HKUST, and responsible persons of relevant departments witnessed the signing ceremony. According to the agreement, the two universities will jointly fund the scientific research seed money to support scientific research and strengthen academic exchanges between each other.
Following the signing ceremony, a robotics experts team from the two universities held a video conference on the robotics discipline and talent training. They exchanged views on collaboration on the “New Engineering” disciplinary development and innovative talent training in the conference. Accordingly, the two sides will commit to cooperation in disciplinary development, talent training, curriculum design, industry-university-research connection, university-enterprise synergy, and educational modes of the robotics disciplines.
