This past April 21-27, Vice President Guo Xingpeng led a delegation to visit Incheon National University, Konkuk University, Chosun University, Fukuoka University, Hokkaido University and Tohoku Institute of Technology.
GZHU signed cooperation and exchange agreements with Konkuk University and Tohoku Institute of Technology. In addition, GZHU’s Earthquake Engineering Research & Test Center and the School of Life Sciences signed discipline exchange and research cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Architecture of Fukuoka University and the Faculty of Agriculture of Hokkaido University. As one of the leading national universities in Japan, Hokkaido University looks forward to carrying out further cooperation with GZHU in engineering and natural sciences.
During these visits, Chosun University and Fukuoka University agreed to further strengthen their partnership with GZHU and apply to join the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-city Universities (GISU). GISU, which was initiated by Guangzhou University and several of its closest foreign counterparts, was inaugurated last December in Guangzhou and has its Secretariat Office based on the campus of GZHU. The President of Fukuoka University plans to promote scientific research cooperation and teacher-student exchanges in civil engineering, life sciences, humanities and social sciences. Professor Hong Sung Geum, Interim President of Chosun University, met with the delegation and agreed to join GISU later this year.
As an additional fruit of VP Guo’s visit, Incheon National University and GZHU are expected to sign a MOU within the next couple of months. After visiting Konkuk University’s life science laboratory and its affiliated hospital, the GZHU delegation agreed to extend collaboration in the fields of life sciences and clinical medicine with Konkuk University.
