On September 11, delegation led by Mr. Yaroslav Kuzminov, President of Russian Higher School of Economics National Research University (HSENRU), visited Guangzhou University (GU). GU President Wei Minghai, Vice-president Guo Xingpeng and responsible persons of relative departments held meetings with the delegates and reached a consensus on cooperation.
Established in 1992, HSENRU received the reputation of a national research university in 2009. The university offers a wide range of disciplines and ranks top in sociology and economics nationwide. The university has three campuses with over twenty thousand students.
During the talks, President Wei and President Yaroslav introduced each university, disciplines and faculty team respectively. President Wei proposed to strengthen students’ and teachers’ mutual visits as well as academic research cooperation in order to promote the “belt and road” strategy. Vice-President Guo Xingpeng introduced the current cooperation projects among our university and foreign partners. He suggested that the cooperation mode and content should be determined according to the advantages of the respective universities. The exchange visits should be carried out to broaden the horizons of the students and to promote cultural exchanges. President Yaroslav totally agreed with the proposals and said that the two sides could deepen cooperation through joint training programs on undergraduate and graduate students or joint research projects. The two sides also discussed about jointly host international academic symposium and establish a regular exchange mechanism for young scholars.
