GU Delegation Visits University of Birmingham

Recently, Guangzhou University- University of Birmingham Urban Development Research Center (hereafter referred to as "Joint Research Center"). Delegation led by Dr. Chen Xiaoyue from Guangzhou University (GU) went to the University of Birmingham City Regional Economics and Development Institute (hereafter referred to as "City-REDI") to conduct academic visits, who were warmly received by the British side.

The Joint Research Center was established in 2015 based on the Guangdong Province university international university science and technology cooperation innovation platform set up by GU School of Geographical Sciences. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between GU and the University of Birmingham in 2011, the two sides have undertaken two international cooperation projects in the areas of services industry, urban land use and so on.

During the visit, GU delegates held academic symposiums with Prof. Simon Collinson, Vice-President of University of Birmingham and Director of City-REDI as well as Researchers of City-REDI. GU professors and doctors made academic reports at the seminar. Professor John R. Bryson, a member of the British Academy of Social Sciences, Professor of Business School of University of Birmingham and one of the founders of City-REDI, gave a keynote speech entitled "Integrating Urban Systems to Provide Better Services for People". Through discussion, the two sides set the cooperative goals in the near future.
