From 1st to 6th January, Professor Gerald Fuller from School of Engineering of Stanford University visited Guangzhou University (GU) and gave academic lectures at the invitation of Research Institute of Rheology. GU President Wei Minghai met Professor Fuller and conferred the certificate of “Distinguished Visiting Professor of Guangzhou University”.
On the afternoon of January 3rd, Academician Fuller gave a symposium entitled “Rheology to the Rescue: Application in Human Health” for GU faculty and students. Academician Fuller explained application of Rheology in the development of human health sciences and introduced the newest research findings discovered by his team, whose vivid explanation was highly acclaimed by the participants.
Academician Fuller hosted a series of SRI Rheology lectures concerning rheology theory, quantitative characterization and cutting-edge application, participated by over one hundred scholars, research fellows, graduate students and technicians from universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises.
As fellow of American National Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Arts and Science as well as American Physical Society, Academician Fuller was awarded “Bingham” Prize, the blue ribbon in International Rheology Academia. Academician Fuller’s visit will promote construction work of Research Institute of Rheology and scientific research of GU. It will also speed up our disciplinary development in Rheology and Chemical Engineering as well as broaden the cooperative channels between Guangzhou municipal government and Stanford University.
