On September 20, invited by Guangzhou University (GU), Professor Nicholas Chrimes from Cambridge University (CU) gave a lecture entitled “Cambridge University –its Soul and Secrets Behind its Success”. The lecture was hosted by Professor Qu Shaobing, Head of the Guangzhou University Council, and it attracted more than 400 teachers and students.
Professor Nicholas Chrimes graduated from the University of Bristol and the Insead Business School in France. As the former Curator of the Fitzwilliams Museum at Cambridge University, he is the current Principal Consultant on Oriental Cultural Research at Cambridge and the Head of the Cambridge Institute. He has lived in Cambridge for more than 20 years and published the well-known book: Cambridge: Treasure Island in the Fens. He is recognized as "the person who knows Cambridge the most." During his lecture, Professor Nicholas Chrimes shared with teachers and students on how Cambridge University received its success, the growth of Western universities, and the relationship between China and Cambridge.
