The School of Physical Education and Sports Science comprises the Department of Physical Education, Department of Public Physical Education & Research, Sports Training and Development Center. Ist faculty totals 73 staff consisting of three full professors, and 23 associate professors. The School is well-equipped with up-to-date teaching facilities including 60,000 square meters indoor and outdoor stadiums and gymnasiums, laboratories for anatomy, physiology, and sports health care and recuperation. Its current student po;ulation is about 320. Over the past few years, the staff of the School has undertaken three research projects at ministerial and provincial levels, published over 10 monographs and more thar 100 academic papers, and won over 20 prizes in national, provincial and municipal sports competitions. Two highlevel athletes teams have been organized, the female basketball team and the female shuttlecock team, of which the female basketball team came out the runner-up in the 2002 National Female Basketball Tournament and the champion in the 2003 Guangdong Province Collegiate Sports Meet. The female shuttlecock team represented China in both the 3rd and the 4th World Shuttlecock Tournament and came out champion.
